Apricot is native to the temperate zones of Asia and Africa, specifically there is evidence, which already existed in China more than 5000 years ago. The Romans also consumed it and they were the ones who introduced the Apricot in Europe through Armenia.
Its fruit is small, with velvety skin and juicy flesh. This fruit is very tasty and high in sugars which gives it a very sweet taste.
The best apricots are available in the spring between April and July.
